Spirituality: What Is The Titus 2 Woman?

As women in Christ we are often taught about the Proverbs 31 woman but what about Titus 2 . . .?

Titus 2: 3-5 “Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.

*UPDATE !! The recording has been removed, you can still enjoy the article as written below, thank you!*

Today’s article is the first of it’s kind here at AmbSoul because we are releasing the audio from a real conversation between myself (Nadj) and a circle of sister’s in Christ as we delve into what it means to be a true “Titus 2 woman“. The multigenerational debate goes between what was deemed as acceptable prior to the 21st century and the transition of roles and behaviors now in 2019.

Throughout both clips you will hear us voice opinions and recite scripture about women in the church, mentoring and even the taboo things considered “secular”. Check us out below. . .

As I’ve listened to this audio repeatedly, mostly due to editing, so many questions were raised for me personally. For instance, are millennials REALLY falling away from the church? Are people in general falling away from church BECAUSE of such a hostile environment within the walls of what should be a safe place for rehabilitation?

Just a few months prior there was quite a buzz around singer Tweet for stating via Instagram that she would no longer attend church services “I’m not shading nobody, I’m telling my truth. And church has been the worst. I will not do church anymore. I love God, I have a relationship with God, but you won’t see me in nobody’s church house. I’m not giving nobody my tithes. I’m not giving 10 percent to nobody, period. That’s it. Sorry,”.

Most recently, actress, author, and wife of Hollywood preacher, DeVon Franklin, Meagan Good was under fire for saying that she doesn’t attend church, “If I’m being completely honest, my experience with some church folks has not been that positive,” she revealed. The Mrs. Franklin clarified that while she loves The Lord, she has to learn to fellowship in other ways “At the end of the day, for me, I still love Christians. I will always love the church. I love my Lord and Savior, period point blank. That’s first and foremost over everything. But even though I love some of those people, I have to love them from a distance because my spirit is too sensitive.” I can admit to my own reservations in regards to Meagan’s decision not to attend church services, especially as a wife to a minister. I can also agree with the unsettling feeling of being in a place of worship while many of the members glare, stare, and whisper.

The question is, how do we tackle these issues in the church? How can we do damage control on the already tainted image of the church? Well, one thing is for sure we have not drawn souls into the kingdom because we concern ourselves with their doings in the 6 out of 7 days of the week and as a Christian woman who’s made mistake after mistake, I understand that people truly need GRACE. We ALL DO. As the saying goes “you get more bees with honey“, we cannot add more injury onto hurting people, we risk them reverting to lifestyles that endanger their eternity. We also cannot simply place the entire blame on “church folk” either, sometimes we become prideful in our sin and embarrassed by correction. The worn out scripture of “judge not lest ye be judged” aka “only God can judge me” is used over and over to excuse the inexcusable. People in Christ are to utilize rightful judgment or correct in love. So many of us lack humility that even proper correction will ignite a fire within us to cause us to run away from church like a frightened dog.

Its pretty plain that a conversation needs to be had and on a larger platform to reach those with voices and experiences from both sides to settle this beef between churches and the world. Please sound off your opinions below and let us know what you think, please be sure to tell us if you want more audio conversations and which topics you’d like us discuss!
